9. Automation & Provisioning Settings

The module implements the standard WHMCS automation commands. Each maps to a Linode API operation as follows.

WHMCS Command / Trigger

Module Function

Behaviour

Linode API Call

Create

CreateAccount

Provisions a new instance from the configured plan, region and image, applying any configurable options the customer selected.

POST /linode/instances

Suspend

SuspendAccount

Shuts the instance down. It is not deleted, so it can be unsuspended.

POST /linode/instances/{id}/shutdown

Unsuspend

UnsuspendAccount

Boots the instance back up.

POST /linode/instances/{id}/boot

Terminate

TerminateAccount

Permanently deletes the instance and clears the stored LinodeId.

DELETE /linode/instances/{id}

Change Password

ChangePassword

Shuts the instance down, resets the root password, and boots it again if it had been running.

POST /linode/instances/{id}/password

Upgrade / Downgrade

ChangePackage

Resizes the instance to the new product’s plan, with automatic disk resizing. Also applies a changed backups option.

POST /linode/instances/{id}/resize

Test Connection

TestConnection

Validates the configured access token.

GET /account/settings

Usage Update (daily cron)

UsageUpdate

Imports disk limit and monthly transfer usage for every active service on the server.

GET /linode/instances/{id} and GET /linode/instances/{id}/transfer

Important: Suspension shuts the instance down but keeps it — and Linode continues to bill your account for a stopped instance. Terminate is the only command that removes it.

Note: Linode requires an instance to be powered off before its root password can be changed. The module handles this automatically: it shuts the instance down, waits for it to reach the offline state, applies the new password, and boots it again if it had been running. If the reset fails, the instance is still booted back up rather than left powered off.
